Buttermilk Chocolate Chip Cookies
Buttermilk Chocolate Chip Cookies. Cream together shortening and sugar until fluffy. In a stand mixer using the paddle attachment, cream together the butter and both sugars.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Using a microwave-proof bowl add the butter and melt the butter. Add the eggs, buttermilk and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition.
Slowly add in the flour mixture and mix until just combined.
Grease or line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat mat. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts. Add in the flour, baking powder, baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) and salt.
